Why Graceful Aging

The goal is simple and it matters more than almost anything else as we get older: keep the body strong enough to live life on your own terms. Functional fitness trains the movements you actually use, so the work does not stay in your living room. It carries out into the real world: stepping over a curb, navigating an uneven sidewalk, rising from a low restaurant seat, getting up off the floor, keeping up with the grandkids.

Graceful Aging builds programs around your real life and your real body. Every session is led one-on-one by a trainer who specializes in functional fitness for active adults, and every in-home visit begins with a vitals check so we know it is safe to proceed. Virtual is our only option that does not happen in your home. Live one-on-one sessions keep your strength and mobility work consistent from anywhere, whether you are out of town for the winter, traveling, or simply short on time. Serving active adults and older adults with mobile, come-to-you functional fitness training. Difficulty traveling to a gym is exactly the problem we solve: we arrive at your door, fully equipped, on a schedule that works for you. (Virtual sessions are available anywhere.)

How a Session Works

Safety first, every single visit.

We want the adult children who send us to their parents to know their loved one’s health and safety come first. That is why every in-home visit follows the same careful path.

    Vitals Check

    Every visit begins with a vitals check to confirm it is safe to proceed. If your vitals are not in a safe range, we do not proceed with the workout that day. No exceptions.

  2. 2

    Warm-Up

    Once we have the green light, we ease the body in with a warm-up that prepares your joints and muscles for safe, effective movement.

  3. 3

    Functional Fitness

    The heart of the session: training the real-world movements you use every day, building strength, balance and mobility that carry beyond the home.

  4. 4

    Cool-Down & Stretch

    We finish with a cool-down and stretching focused on balance and mobility, so you leave each session feeling looser, steadier and stronger.

Sarah Brumfield LPTA, CPT, FAS

Founder

An FAI certified Functional Aging Specialist, ISSA certified Personal Trainer, and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Sarah spent 15 years restoring safe independence for people recovering from injuries, surgeries and illness before shifting her focus to preventative wellness. She is passionate about fall prevention and improving quality of life through functional fitness.

Michele Smith CPT, CES

Personal Trainer

A Birmingham native and NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, with specializations in functional movement, overall wellness, and endurance and strength training. With 10 years in fitness training, Michele is passionate about helping clients regain, maintain and improve functional strength and mobility.

Kailey Staggs LPTA, FAS

Personal Trainer

A licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and FAI certified Functional Aging Specialist. Kailey is compassionate about creating a positive, supportive environment that empowers clients to improve their quality of life, helping each person reach their full potential through personalized, evidence-based care.
